Greetings Newgrounders,

I have a new bit of animation for you today! It's just a few seconds, so I'll post it here. I'm trying to improve areas that I haven't worked on so much before, so I've been practicing lip-sync with my character Froggy. Here he is, voiced by the ghost of the great Don Knotts. Audio from The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)

All is well. For the most part I've been balancing job-hunting with drawing/animation time. I'm gonna be dropping a short lip-sync online sometime this week, so keep an eye out for it. After all, nothing says happy holidays like frogs, Don Knotts and MURDER!...right?...

Actually I have a question about that, how does Newgrounds feel about uploading lip-syncs, demo reels, pencil tests and similar materials? Would it be better to post a link to them in a news post, or just go ahead and upload it like normal?

I also participated in inktober this year- if you're interested you can find my drawings on tumblr,

Cheers!

5278594_144090763182_DemoReelSSSmall.jpgGreetings Newgrounders,

I've been under a kind of radio silence due to a vacation compounded by various parts of my laptop self-destructing like a row of expensive glass dominoes. Thankfully my machine has been ressusitated, and I am now catching up on other venues besides facebook and tumblr. So let's catch up.

First of all, thank you all for your warm response to Geno; I think it's a little late to respond to these comments individually, but rest assured I read each one, and I very much appreciate the support and the critique.

As for what I've been doing, this summer I've been working on an internship producing an educational cartoon for the Annals of Internal Medicine. I was lead animator on what we called "the chalkboard sequence", and I storyboarded the scenes and designed and animated some very Muppety characters for it. While I can't put up the video here because it is technically owned by the Annals of Internal Medicine and I do not yet have permission, I'm allowed to use sequences from it in my demo reel, which you can watch on Vimeo. It also includes scenes from Tetragon Hall, Geno, and various exercizes I completed during my last two years at UArts, (even some things no one has seen before...ooo)

Also on Vimeo you can find a sort of "behind-the-scenes" look at the pencil tests for Geno, along with unused animation, original music, and pleanty of (mis)readings of dialogue for a bygone animatic. It's a new home for all the flotsam that got lost in a senior film.

Having just finished the internship, I have all the credits needed to graduate, and I'm on the lookout for jobs in animation, especially those seeking traditional animators. If you know a guy or gal (or ARE a guy or gal) looking to hire someone who swears by the pencil, send me a PM sometime!

I'm always drawing and making concept art and sketches and such, and eventually they filter online, generally though Tumblr. Recently a couple of friends and I made a batch of movie-themed trading cards to promote our film club at the school. They went like hotcakes. The originals are hidden somewhere in the pockets of fifty or so UArts freshmen, but I scanned them beforehand and at least put my batch online. If you's the kind of guy who likes to look at the sketches, check out my blog.

Thanks for watching!
